Hark, hark, O war-torn world; Seraphic choirs
Are singing: "Glory be to God on high,
Peace, peace on earth, goodwill to men!" Then vie,
This day, ye liberated sons and sires,
With angels, as ye tune your Christmas lyres.
With joyful songs of praise your lips supply;
Send back the peaceful echo to the sky—
The peace of God that all the world desires!
No longer mock the Prince of Peace with war,
But scatter men who stir unholy strife;
Point all the nations to the Christmas Star,
The Halo-Guide to man's Eternal life:
With honor celebrate the Saviour's birth,
In praising God and spreading peace on earth!
