"A Hymn for Christmas Day" by Rev. Joseph C. Booth (1922)

A Hymn for Christmas Day.

(Tune: "Regent Square.")

BY (REV.) JOSEPH C. BOOTH.

Seraphs from your heights of glory,

        Heralds of the Savior's birth,

Sing again your Christmas story

        To this war-torn, troubled earth:

                Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Peace on earth—to men goodwill!

Shepherds heard your songs supernal

        And with rapture found their King;

May we find the Lord Eternal

In the carols that you sing:

                Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Peace on earth—to men goodwill!

Let us join those angel voices,

Swell the chorus of the throng,

Till our stricken world rejoices

With the joy of Christmas song:

                Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Peace on earth—to me goodwill!

May no earth-born note of sadness

        Mar our heaven-imparted lay,

But with love-begotten gladness,

Hail the Christ of Christmas Day!

                Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Peace on earth—to men goodwill!

Troy Times. December 23, 1922: 12 col 1.
